Local pastors planning third prayer walk against violence

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON Okla_ Some pastors are giving the community the chance to stop the violence in Lawton.

They've held two prayer walks recently, and they are planning a third for this Saturday. Pastors met today to make final plans. They say this walk, just as the first two were, is intended to pray for recent victims of violence in the Lawton community and to raise awareness of the area's higher crime rates.

"We're just here to bring awareness to the violence in this city," Pastor Sam Moyd of Zoe Christian Center said, "And what we can do to stop that violence. We believe that with prayer we can stop the violence that's in this community."

They said the previous walks have been successful and they hope this one is, too. In fact, they believe in them so much, they are planning a 4th walk.

The next prayer walk begins Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Mind of Christ Church on 13th and Cache. You're all invited to take part. Pastors will march to the Dew Drop Inn and lead a prayer for the victims of homicides that have happened there in the past few months.
