Gov. Rick Perry declares January 'Crime Stoppers Month'

Posted: Updated:

This year is also starting out strong for the Crime Stoppers program across the State of Texas. After a very successful 2012, Texas Governor Rick Perry declared this month, January 2013, "Crime Stoppers Month".

Throughout the state last year, tips submitted to Crime Stoppers led to 175,000 arrests and $1.2 billion in recovered property and seized narcotics.  Locally, Amarillo Crime Stoppers is also celebrating a 2012 Year In Review. In Amarillo, more than 1,600 tips were submitted to the program last year, 165 arrests were made thanks to those tips, 122 fugitives were captured and nearly 300 cases were cleared.

Along with celebrating Crime Stoppers Month, Amarillo Crime Stoppers is also celebrating the several awards it received at the 24th Annual Texas Crime Stoppers State Conference last year.
