Miss Lawton visits elementary school

LAWTON Okla_ The newly-crowned Miss Lawton made her first appearance today at her alma mater: Crosby Park Elementary School.

Jamie Butemeyer spoke to the students about the importance of having goals and what it takes to reach them.

"It's very important to inspire kids at a young age like this," Butemeyer said. "The decisions they make today can influence what they do in the future."

She taught her "Train" platform to the kids at Crosby Park, which she said is the method she created to prepare herself for the Miss Lawton pageant.

Jamie's carrying on the family tradition; her mother is a former Miss Lawton. Not only has she wanted to represent her hometown ever since she was a little girl, but she said she also dreams of becoming Miss Oklahoma.
