Fort Sill soldiers home from Afghanistan

Posted: Updated:

Fort Sill- A group of Fort Sill soldiers made it home from the war zone early Thursday morning.

The troops were supposed to arrive back on post Wednesday night, but the homecoming was delayed until around 3 a.m. Thursday. They are the last 60 soldiers from the 214th Fires Brigade Security Force Assistance Team. The rest made it home from Afghanistan about a week before Christmas.

Their mission was to mentor Afghan soldiers and police to take over their own security. Fort Sill says they played a vital role in the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan.
