City of Altus Issues Mandatory Conservation Order

Posted: Updated:

ALTUS Okla_ The City of Altus Office of Emergency Management has released the following Civil Emergency Message:

"The City of Altus is under mandatory water conservation. We request your help while the line from Tom Steed Lake is being repaired. Please do not water outside. We are switching to water from the reservoir, and you will notice a change in the taste and odor of the water.

Repeating, the City of Altus is under mandatory water conservation, while repairs are being made to a line from Tom Steed Lake."

Emergency Management Director Lloyd Colston said a water line from Tom Steed Lake broke around 3:00 pm Tuesday afternoon. Crews are working on it now, but it could take as many as eight hours to fix. So, they're asking that no one water outside until the line is fixed.

Again, the repair to a water line from Tom Steed Lake to the City of Altus will probably last past midnight Tuesday.
