New Mexico - New Mexico officials are now warning lawmakers the state's surplus is actually 70 million to 460 million dollars less than what has been anticipated.
That's because the state's government hasn't properly balanced its checkbook for more than six years.
While there's no immediate risk the state will be unable to pay its bills.
The state may have to cutback on projects like capital improvements until they know how much money is actually available.
The problem was created by a faulty computer system.
