LPS holds Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration

Lawton, Okla._Monday marks Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Friday night, Lawton Public Schools held their annual celebration to honor King's life.

Students from across the city entertained the crowd at McMahon Auditorium. They sang songs, shared testimony and even performed skits, all to remember Dr. King's legacy.

Mayor Fred Fitch addressed the crowd and reigning Miss Lawton, Jamie Butemeyer, entertained through song.

They finished the event with a brief history lesson on Dr. King's life and the fight for civil rights.
