Alcohol and narcotics factors in fatal motorcycle accident

Alcohol and narcotics have been declared factors in a vehicle versus motorcycle wreck that left one mad dead early Saturday morning.

Officials say it happened around 12:45 Saturday morning near the intersection of 45th Avenue and I-27. Health Allen Albert, 37, of Canadian, Texas was stopped on his motorcycle at the red light for Northbound Canyon Drive. While stopped, he was hit from behind by a Dodge Challenger driven by 32-year-old Thomas Earl Sautter of Amarillo.

Albert died at the scene as a result of injuries and Sautter was arrested for intoxicated manslaughter. An autopsy has been ordered for Albert and this incident is still being investigated by the Amarillo Police Department.
