OK Lawmaker calls for changes at state veteran centers

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma City -An Oklahoma lawmaker has filed several bills to address what he calls problems at the state's seven veteran centers.

Senator Frank Simpson says the issues were brought to light during an interim study last fall. Among them, neglect and abuse, no oversight from the state health department, failure to report crimes and inadequate training for staff.

Simpson says despite tragedies that have occurred, Oklahoma still has some of the best veteran centers in the nation.
