Effort to turn Texas into a blue state

Posted: Updated:

Texas - Democrats hope to win over the state in time for the next presidential election.

A new organization called Battleground Texas plans to go after voting populations that have been underrepresented in the past.

They hope this could finally turn our state from red to blue.

Republicans say they've seen such efforts before and aren't worried.

North Texas-based GOP political consultant Craig Murphy says Republicans should respond accordingly to the Democratic Parties new efforts.

Battleground Texas plans to reach out to the African American and large Hispanic population, raise money and resources to adequately compete on the statewide level, and slate better presidential candidates.

The Republican Party of Texas is also making an effort to reach out to Hispanic voters.
