'Cold as Ice' run benefit Bridge Children's Advocacy Center

Dozens of children and adults slipped into their running shoes Saturday morning to "get fit".

Starting Saturday morning around nine, Get Fit Amarillo kicked off the "Cold As Ice" runs starting in its rear parking lot. The event allowed children and adults to participate in a one mile run, a 5K or 10K.

Organizers say it's a great event that encourages people to get fit and get healthy all while raising money to benefit the Bridge Children's Advocacy Center. Making this event a win-win for everyone.

"The Bridge helps children who've been hurt, either physically abused or sexually abused and we've chosen them as a charity," said owner of Get Fit, Karen Roberts. "We love what they do for the community so that's why we support them."

Roberts also says Get Fit will be starting a 5K training class this spring. For more information on getting involved in those classes or just getting fit, stop by their office location at 2311 S. Georgia in Amarillo.
