UPDATE: Woman shot at Altus apartment complex

Posted: Updated:

Altus-Altus police swarmed an apartment complex Monday, searching for a man suspected of shooting and wounding a woman Sunday night.

Both the shooting and the search happened at the Ridgecrest Apartments.

Authorities say witnesses identified Brent Robinson as the gunman.

Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy believes that the shooting is gang-related and are not taking any chances in capturing him.

"We're going to consider him armed and dangerous and the public should too," Chief Murphy said.

Chief Murphy says police searched the complex for a couple hours, but did not find Robinson.
They're asking anyone with information on this shooting to call Crimestoppers at 580-482-TIPS.

The victim, 19-year-old Jazznea Nicole Harris, was shot once in the back. Police say she was taken to Jackson County Memorial Hospital and later flown by helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital. Her condition is unknown. The shooting remains under investigation.

Chief Murphy says officers are also investigating two separate drive-by shootings that happened over the weekend. The first was reported around 4 a.m. Sunday morning in the 900 block of North Benson. The second was reported Sunday night around 8:30 p.m. in the 900 block of North York. Murphy says homes were hit by gunfire during both shootings. Investigators say it's not clear if they were connected.
