Tucumcari jail escape attempt

Posted: Updated:

Tucumcari, New Mexico - Two officers are injured when an inmate tries to escape from a Tucumcari jail.

The Quay County Detention Center administrator says the guards were assaulted by 31 year old Noel Webb.

Officers say Webb had been in the jail since November 7th on a no bond warrant, and is awaiting extradition to California on felony drug charges.

The two guards were taken to the hospital, but are said to be in good health, and are awaiting medical clearance to return back to work.

Authorities say the DA is investigating, and expects charges to be filed for attempted escape.

Webb has since been moved to another facility.
