ALTUS, Okla_ New information on those online courses at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus that came under criticism. The school announced Wednesday they will stop offering their 10-day classes.
That decision came just hours after a report from the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education which called on the school to eliminate them.
The Regents cited concerns about a lack of academic oversight of those 10 day courses. They were first criticized last year by the Chronicle of Higher Education, which pointed out larger college athletics programs were using the courses to keep their athletes eligible. Western's president said they're already looking into other options for accelerated courses.
