Early morning house fire causes $12,000 damage

Posted: Updated:

A house fire claimed the home of one Amarillo family early Saturday morning.

The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a call at 2006 N. Hayes just before 3:45 Saturday morning. The fire was extinguished before four, but still managed to cause some $12,000 worth of damage.

One of the occupants on scene told firefighters she came home from work and saw smoke coming out the home and noticed the front door was kicked in.

An investigator was called to the scene, as was Red Cross to help assist the victims with food, clothes and temporary housing.

No injuries from the fire were reported.
