Winter Storm Warning In Okla., 1 Killed In Crash

Posted: Updated:

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say the first significant winter event of the season dropped about 5 inches of snow in western Oklahoma Tuesday and resulted in at least one fatal accident.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Betsy Randolph says one person died Tuesday on U.S. 281 near Gracemont in a head-on collision when one vehicle skidded across the center line of the roadway. No names were released.

Randolph says dozens of accidents were reported, but no others with serious injury.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for much of the western half of Oklahoma.

One accident involved an ambulance and a sheriff's patrol car. Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman Lara O'Leary says an EMSA ambulance collided with a Canadian County sheriff's patrol car Tuesday morning, but there were no injuries.

As advertised, today was exceptional with lots of sunshine and comfy temperatures. We'll repeat it tomorrow before turning a bit unsettled at times next week.l
The pile of rain and storms that came through during the early afternoon hours will be out of our viewing area by tonight.
