Lawton, Okla._The search for a new city manager was narrowed Tuesday in Lawton.
The city council met in an executive session to discuss the final candidates for the position. Submissions for city manager closed on Friday.
They received 13 candidates from across the nation and HR director Jim Russell met with the council Tuesday to discuss the top three.
"We're right on target with where we need to be, so I'm pretty comfortable that the quality of the candidates we have are exactly where we should be, that we've got a good pool of candidates to review," Russell said.
From this point, it is the council's decision to figure out what step to take next in the process. Russell recommends they begin a panel-style interview process with all council members and the mayor.
They took no action after the executive session, but Russell hopes a decision can be made as early as March.
