OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla_ Oklahoma could set up
an emergency fund to deal with this ongoing drought.
That's what's on
tap Wednesday for a House panel to consider. The House Appropriations and
Budget Committee met Wednesday to look at a bill that would put the fund on the
books.
The bill calls
for at least $10M to be available in the event of a drought disaster. The
proposal follows the worst drought in decades and several declarations of drought
disasters across the Midwest region.
Exceptional Drought persists in the nation's midsection, and
climatologists say it could continue at least through the spring.
