Dalhart school enacted safety measures Wednesday morning

An elementary school in Dalhart has re-opened its doors after a threat had multiple law enforcement agencies on the lookout for a suspect.

The Hartley County Sheriff's office tells us a Dalhart woman received threatening text messages from an ex-boyfriend early Wednesday morning. Her children go to Dalhart Elementary School and the ex-boyfriend implied he was in the area.

Police placed the school on "controlled entry" as a precaution. An investigation found the man was actually in Illinois and the school was re-opened.
