UPDATE: Velma Man in Serious Condition After Oil Rig Accident

STEPHENS CO., Okla_ The Velma oil
rig worker who was injured yesterday, Mickey Pruitt, is in serious condition
this afternoon at the OU Medical Center.
Pruitt was
crushed by a platform while working at an oil well site in Stephens County.
Sheriff Wayne McKinney said he was helping position a piece of equipment, when
a cable of some sort failed and a huge piece of the rig crushed him. It took
four men to lift the fallen platform off of Pruitt.
A woman who
says she's Pruitt's daughter-in-law posted on our Facebook page, saying Pruitt
is in ICU with multiple fractures to his ribs and spine.
OSHA was
expected to be on site. We have put in calls to OSHA, as well as the owners of
the rig, Jack Well Service, but have not heard back.
