LAWTON Okla_ Even the youngsters are pitching in today to make Lawton a better place.

Students and teachers at Swinney Elementary are doing their part to promote healthy lifestyles today. As a part of the American Heart Association's Hoops for Heart campaign, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders as well as a group of faculty members have been fundraising and now they're taking time to celebrate.

"What we do is we raise the money," said Physical Education Teacher Nicole Maloney, "And then we try to put on a big show for the school and parents to come and watch."

The students call themselves the YMCA Little Dribblers. Practice began on January 1st, and although the Maloney said they started off a little rough, they were ready to go for Friday.

Maloney said that this program isn't just about basketball. It teaches the students real life lessons. She said they need to learn how to lead healthy lives and how to be active and this program gives them that.

The elementary school has taken part in Hoops for Heart for the past few years, and they said they love to do it.
