National Guard headed to area

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo District of the Texas Highway Patrol has now called in the National Guard to help stranded motorists.

Blowing snow has created whiteout conditions which is resulting in DPS troopers being unable to respond to many requests for assistance.

National Guard units are coming from Lubbock to the Amarillo area to assist with stranded motorists and emergency calls.

They are expected to arrive as early as 1:00 PM.
