Posted: Updated:

Undated_Here's the latest update on the power situation from Cotton Electric Cooperative.

OUTAGE UPDATE: 2/25/2013 10:45 p.m.

Power was restored to the Velma and Skelly substations. Approximately 60 members remain without power as of 10:45 p.m. Power restoration efforts may take several hours as crews work in dark, wintry conditions. We appreciate our members' patience as the crews work to restore power.

You can see an outage map on their website, cottonelectric.com.

At the height of the outage Monday evening, around 1,800 customers were without power, many of them were in the Velma area.  City officials opened the Velma Town Hall, where there was a generator, for people to seek shelter during the outage.
