City Council chooses new City Manager

Posted: Updated:

Lawton,Okla_The City of Lawton has a new City Manager and it's a familiar face.
The City Council voted to promote Assistant City Manager Bryan Long to the position by a unanimous vote Tuesday night.

"Quite frankly, I came into it believing that I would have to compete for the position because, in fact, it was a very competitive process.  My peers and colleagues in the profession had put their names in the hat and I know who they are and what they can do and quite honestly, I'm very  proud to know that I was selected, " Long said.

Long has been with the city of Lawton for five years. He has been serving as the interim City Manager since the firing of Larry Mitchell back in October. The council set Long's salary at $127,000.
