UPDATE: OHP Trooper in Rollover Identified

Posted: Updated:

COMANCHE CO., Okla_ We're learning more about an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who crashed his patrol car last Thursday near Sterling.

OHP said Trooper Jacob Dickinson suffered minor arm and internal injuries and was released from a Lawton hospital the following day. His commander said Dickinson was on his way to backup a Sterling police officer, when he lost control on a curve on Highway 17. The patrol car rolled off the road and caught fire.

OHP confirms some ammunition in the car went off during the blaze, but nobody was hit. The commander said unsafe speed while rounding the curve caused the crash. He said OHP will review it and handle any discipline internally. Trooper dickinson has been with the highway patrol for about six months.
