Amarillo community checks out classic cars at Make-A-Wish show

Posted: Updated:

Several hundred people from around the area turned out Saturday to support a great cause, the 29th Annual Make-A-Wish Car Show, presented by the Panhandle Council of Car Clubs.

This weekend, folks stopping by the show can check out a range of cars models, old and new, from 1906 to 2013. Organizers say this show is really a great kickoff to the upcoming spring car season, and a feel-good way to enjoy cars and give back to children in need.

"It's heartwarming when you meet some of these kids and you get to do some of this stuff for them," said Barry Henson, Chairman for the Make-A-Wish Car Show. "Everybody gets a warm fuzzy feeling when you talk to them, and it's a lot of fun. Makes you feel good all over."

Like most car shows, there will be a number of prizes given out for People's Choice, Best Display and several others. The Car Show continues Sunday at the Amarillo Civic Center from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
