APD Investigating Suspicious Death

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a suspicious death at the Luxury Inn and Suites after a body was found early Monday morning.

31 year old Matthew Zimmerman has been booked into the Potter County Correction Center for murder.

Officers tell us Zimmerman had made the initial call to dispatch at 2:10 AM to report a female was possibly deceased.

When the Special Crimes Unit arrived on scene at 2915 I-40 East, they say they discovered the body of a white female.

Zimmerman was no longer in the motel room but officers were able to detain him in the parking lot.

Officers say foul play is a factor.

An autopsy has already been ordered and scheduled for March 5, 2013 in Lubbock.

If you have any information, call the Special Crimes Unit at 378-9468.
