Firefighters investigate overnight structure fire

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - Firefighters continue to investigate a structure fire Tuesday morning trying to determine how it sparked.

The Amarillo Fire Department arrived at 4101 S Van Buren at around 10:30 Monday night where they found a vacant structure fully engulfed.

The home is a total loss.

Due to the strong winds, the fire began to spread over to one of the home's to the south.

It also posed a threat to three other surrounding homes.

Residents from those homes were evacuated and 9 of them received assistance from the Red Cross.

The first arriving crews were able to contain the fire in a little over an hour.

There were 10 units and 30 firefighters on scene battling the blaze.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
