An Amarillo man is now behind bars in connection with a half a decade old Oklahoma murder.

Gordon Splinter II has been arrested for the 2009 shooting death of 35-year-old Michael Smith.

Authorities say after months of investigation the case went cold until just recently.

About a year ago, they found new leads and witnesses who identified splinter as running from the area where smith was shot in Erick, Oklahoma.
