LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron University Director of Athletics Jim Jackson has removed the interim tag and named Nate Gamet as the next head coach of the men's basketball program.
"For the last five years I have seen firsthand Coach Gamet's work and successes," said Jackson. "He has earned this appointment and I fully expect Nate will move our program to greater heights. We will start immediately searching for his assistant."
Gamet joined the men's basketball team in 2008 and helped Cameron return to prominence making postseason appearances in four of the last five years. He has also recruited some of the region's top talent, including 2012 LSC Player of the Year, Milton Garner, and 2013 LSC Player of the Year Craig Foster.
Additionally, Gamet has had 11 All-Conference selections while at Cameron. During his tenure at Northwest Missouri State (2003-2008) where Gamet spent five years as an assistant coach, he helped lead the Bearcats to three Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) championships and one regional championship. While at NMSU, Gamet coached two All-Americans, two MIAA Players of the Year, one Freshman of the Year, five All-Conference players and two All-Region players.
Gamet will be Cameron's eleventh head men's basketball coach since becoming a four-year institution in 1968. COURTESY CAMERON SPORTS INFORMATION
