COMANCHE CO., Okla_ A Fort Sill soldier convicted of a brutal
home invasion last year was sentenced Tuesday to ten years in prison.
Claude Byrd appeared in a Comanche County courtroom Tuesday to face
punishment for six counts of kidnapping, three counts of robbery and one count
of conspiracy to commit robbery.
Prosecutors said Byrd was one of three soldiers who tied up six people in
an apartment near 17th and "C" Avenue in September of 2011. At
his trial back in December, he admitted to the judge that he had been involved
in the incident, but said he didn't realize it would turn into a violent crime.
