Robbery Outside Juvenile Center Caught on Tape

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON Okla_ It was caught on tape: two men brutally beating and robbing a Lawton man, and police need your help identifying them.

Police say the attack happened last Tuesday night around 10:00 PM outside the Comanche County Juvenile Detention Center.

The attack is seen clearly on the tape: the two men got out of a car, approached a man, and started to beat him. Despite some cuts and bruises, the victim is doing fine.

The man told police he was riding his bicycle, when a white car in front of him started backing up and tapped his tire. When he tried to go around the car, two men jumped out, chased him and beat him right on the doorsteps of the detention center.

The helpless man runs towards the locked doors of the Juvenile Detention Center but can't get in. You can see him from inside frantically pulling on the doors just before his attackers drag him back. Seconds later, the two men are on top of him punching, kicking, and stomping him.

"I think it's very disturbing," Lawton Police Detective Jason Roberts said, "The fact they are at a juvenile detention center and they no qualms as far as walking up and robbing him. If they are willing to do that there, they're willing to do just about anything anywhere."

They don't give up until the man is lying helpless. That's when they empty his pockets and casually walk away.

Believe it or not, it only took employees about a minute to come to the door to see what was going on, but because the beating happened so quickly, the attackers were already driving off.

Luckily, the victim was able to get to his feet and explain to employees what had just happened.

Police have identified the suspects' car as a white mercury cougar.

The men are believed to be Hispanic or Native American. One of them stands about 5'8", and the other is about 6'. Both are believed to weigh around 250 lbs.

Police believe one of the men was wearing a black T-shirt with this unusual Marilyn Monroe print, with the Texas area code ‘325' tattooed on her neck. If you can identify the man wearing it or have information, call Crimestoppers at 355-INFO, or text the word 'BUST' and your information to the number ‘274637'.
