ANADARKO Okla_ The arrest of an
Anadarko couple is linked to Wednesday's resignation of Florida's Lieutenant Governor.
Lt. Governor Jennifer
Carroll announced her resignation today. Her chief of staff, Adam Hollingsworth,
said Carroll resigned, so her ties to "Allied Veterans of the World" would
not be a distraction for the administration.
The connection
is, on Tuesday, Chase Burns of Anadarko turned himself in to Caddo County
authorities. Authorities accused Burns of making $290M by supplying software to
Allied Veterans for use in illegal gambling operations. His wife, Kristin, was
also arrested.
Both are
charged in Oklahoma
with being fugitives from justice. Chase Burns denies any wrongdoing. His
father, former District Attorney Tony Burns, serves as his attorney and said Chase
sold software to Allied Veterans but did nothing illegal.
Burns has been
released on $500,000 bond. His wife Kristin is free on $100,000 bond.
Burns is also the brother of Brett Burns, the former Stephens, Jefferson, Grady and Caddo County District Attorney.
