Man arrested after causing a disturbance at funeral home

Posted: Updated:

Lawton, Okla_A Lawton man is behind bars after causing a major disturbance at the viewing of Lavonte Jackson, who was murdered in southwest Lawton last week.

Officers were called to the Whinnery-Huddleston Funeral Home on NW Cache Road around 7:00p.m. Saturday evening, after an employee called about a fight involving several people at Jackson's viewing.

When officers arrived, they saw several men trying to remove Jeremiah Davis from the funeral home. They say he was screaming and cursing about police being at the services and was noticeably intoxicated.

Davis eventually left the property but came back less than an hour later, screaming and shouting again. As officers attempted to arrest Davis, he started to fight.

Police managed to get him under control and arrested him on charges of resisting an officer and public intoxication. Lavonte Jackson will be laid to rest tomorrow.
