Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma mayors and other city officials are planning to be in Oklahoma City to observe Municipal Government Week.

Gov. Mary Fallin has set aside next week to recognize the leaders of Oklahoma's cities and towns. Officials at the Oklahoma Municipal League and the Mayors Council of Oklahoma will host Municipal Government Day at the State Capitol on Tuesday when more than 100 municipal officials from across the state are expected to attend.

Officials will receive briefings on a variety of legislation that could have an impact on cities and towns. They include efforts to give cities and towns more control over smoking ordinances, changes to state pension plans and efforts to make state agencies more accountable.

Exhibits from Oklahoma municipalities, governmental agencies and the private sector will be on display.
