Hollis's former Assistant Police Chief ordered to stand trial

Posted: Updated:

Harmon County,Okla_Hollis's former Assistant Police Chief has been ordered to stand trial on charges of raping a female county inmate. Prosecutors say Jayson Vest removed the woman from her cell at the Harmon County Jail back in January, and forced her to have sex with him in the Chief's office.

At a hearing Tuesday, the state called both the victim and an agent from the drug and crime task force to testify. Based on the evidence in that hearing, the judge set a trial date for Vest, and ordered him to return to court for a formal arraignment next Monday.

If convicted, Vest faces up to life in prison.
