Red Cross Raises Money For Disaster Relief

Posted: Updated:

GERONIMO, Okla_Saturday night at Geronimo High School there was a beans and cornbread dinner held to benefit the American Red Cross.

All kinds of yummy treats were served up to help the Local Red Cross end their month of awareness with a bang.

Locally that money will help with the Red Cross Disaster team that assists with everything from fires to tornados.

Volunteers say that money is vital in helping victims of disaster get back on their feet.

"It will help provide them with shelter, money for food, we will assist them with finding a place and just immediate needs they will need after the sort, " said Red Cross Volunteer Donna Penland

The location of the event was no accident. Geronimo High School is a tornado safe building, and it is designated by the Red Cross as a shelter in case of disaster.
