Explosion in Downtown OKC Caused by Transformer Failure

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla_Emergency crews were called to Downtown Oklahoma City Friday evening after a report of an explosion, fire officials said. 

The explosion happened in an underground tunnel where utility work was taking place. A worker from Oklahoma Gas and Electric was working near the 100 block of West Park Avenue when the explosion happened. A fire did break out was quickly extinguished. 


There have been no reports of major injuries, however there was a least one woman being treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Officials say a transformer failure is to blame.
