Dentistry Board Hopes to Clamp Down

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma City, Okla._The head of the Oklahoma Dentistry Board says she'd like to see changes made to how Oklahoma's dentists are being monitored.

This statement comes following allegations that a Tulsa area oral surgeon exposed at least 7,000 patients to Hepatitis C or HIV.

Susan Rogers says a state law prohibits surprise inspections of dental offices and that dentists are depended upon to police themselves.

She says the state is provided with only three investigators to watch over the state's 2,000 plus dentists.
