Lawton Teen Charged in March Shooting

LAWTON Okla_ A Lawton teenager could spend the rest of his life in prison.

He's the teenager prosecutors say opened fire at Lawton's H.C. King Center in March. They say the shooter shot another teenager in front of a crowd at the center last month. He has been charged as a youthful offender.

Prosecutors say the victim showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his left torso. He and several other witnesses told police that the juvenile shot him outside of the H.C. King Center on Northwest 20th Street.

It happened just before 9:00 PM on March 28th at a time when the center usually has a lot of youngsters gathered, playing games. Police say the shooter also fired several shots into a car that was trying to get away from the chaos.

The shooter is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Still no word on what sparked the shooting. We'll keep you updated.
