Southwest China Hit With 7.0 Quake

CHENGDU, China_A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Southwest China's Sichuan Province at 8:02 a.m. Saturday Beijing time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

46 people were killed in the 7.0-magnitude earthquake, and over 400 people were injured.

 

The quake was strongly felt by residents in Sichuan's capital city of Chengdu. 

A resident in Chengdu, who was on the 13th floor of a building when the quake hit, said he felt the building shaking for about 20 seconds, and he saw tiles fall off nearby buildings.

Multiple aftershocks jolted the area some as strong as a 5.1 magnitude.
