Grady Co. Sets Safety Checkpoints for Weekend

GRADY CO., Okla_ Grady County drivers be careful this weekend; safety driving checkpoints will be in effect.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Grady County Sheriff's Office, the Chickasha Police Department and other agencies will be operating a special enforcement patrol and multi-agency impaired driving and safety checkpoints in the Grady County areas from 7 p.m. Friday, April 26 through 3 a.m. Saturday, April 27. The Bureau of Indian Affairs will also be assisting with the use of the BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) mobile.

The operation is part of the "More Cops, More Stops" mobilization which runs April 19-28. Oklahoma is one of only two states taking part in the "More Cops, More Stops" campaign, which is designed to remind the public to never drink and drive, always buckle up, obey speed limits and avoid distractions.

Agencies will be carrying out saturation patrols throughout Grady County as part of this campaign.

The Grady County Sheriff's Office is pleased to be participating in this event along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the other law enforcement agencies around our area.

Contact information for this event is Grady County Sheriff Jim Weir or Grady County Sheriff's Public Relations Officer Lisa Hatchett at 405-222-1000, ext 259.

The "BAT" (Breath Alcohol Testing) mobile will be on display at the Sheriff's Office Friday afternoon and the public is welcome to come by and check it out.
