Keeping electronics out of Texas landfills

Every year in Texas, more than 150,000 tons of old electronics go into dumpsters around the state. Once in the dumpster, they make their way to landfills where toxins are release into the environment.

To stop this from happening, state lawmakers are looking at a bill that would change this. If passed, the bill would create guidelines for manufactures to make sure everything is recycled responsibly.

Best Buy in Amarillo has already taken an initiative and allows the community to bring in old electronics. They accepts computers, phones, televisions and other electronic items. If you bring them to Best Buy, they will take them and recycle them free of change.
