SW Oklahoma Homeless Veteran Stand Down on Friday

Lawton- Volunteers are gearing up for the very first stand down for homeless veterans in southwest Oklahoma on Friday.

Breakfast began at 6:30 a.m. Then from eight until four, the stand down will offer a variety of resources for vets, everything from medical screenings, clothing assistance, free hair cuts, even legal and employment help.

All veterans from southwest Oklahoma and Wichita Falls, Texas who do not have a permanent home can take advantage of the meals and services. 

Representatives from the Social Security Administration and the Veterans Administration will be available. The following services will be provided:

  • Shelter Assistance
  • A Meal
  • Employment Assistance
  • Barbers
  • Medical Screening/Referrals/Shots
  • Drug & Alcohol Treatment Information
  • Clothing
  • Veteran Benefits Information Vocational Rehabilitation Services
  • Toiletries
  • Legal Assistance
  • Dental Screening
  • Showers

It's all happening at Centenary United Methodist Church 704 SW D Avenue in downtown  Lawton.
