New Military Housing Open on Post

Posted: Updated:

FORT SILL Okla_ Families at Fort Sill have a whole lot to look forward to with the opening of a new community center.

It's the first of three centers to be opened on post. The long-awaited final product comes from Corvias Military Living, formerly Picerne Housing. The project started back in 2008 but due to uncertainty in the economy, was put on hold.

The brand new facility has all the amenities a family could ask for. In fact, that's exactly how the layout came to be. Corvias polled Fort Sill families to find out exactly what they wanted, and it turns out they wanted a community room, game room, workout facility, and Olympic-sized pool. The best part: it's all free.

Picerne became Corvias when the company decided the name was too limiting. They do far more than just build homes.

"We have a saying: ‘Families First,'" Director/Manager of Corvias Military Living Michael Steiner said. "That means doing things for the right reasons, at the right time, for the right people. It means doing things from the heart. That's where Corvias Military Living came from. To help bring what is really and truly important: that is quality of life to the families."

Corvias comes from the Latin words, "from the heart." Work will start on the next facility in May of 2014.
