LAWTON, Okla._ Lawton police officers are investigating a three car accident that took place just moments after witnesses said an ambulance sounded their sirens and sped through an intersection.
Police said it happened at Northwest 30th Street and Lee Boulevard as the driver of a car tried to maneuver out of the way of the emergency vehicle. In doing so, police said the car collided into a west bound pickup while a third car had its mirror clipped.
Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The ambulance that transported them is not the same ambulance thought to have caused the accident.
Witnesses said the ambulance never stopped. Police said the accident was under investigation.
A delicate effort to reach a young girl buried in the rubble of her school stretched into a daylong vigil, much of it broadcast across Mexico as rescue workers still struggled in rain and darkness early Thursday trying to reach her.
