Several Fire Departments Battle Large Grassfire

Sunday night dozens of firefighters from at least five fire departments were called to fight a large grassfire that charred several acres.

The fire ignited around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Baseline Road and Bandy, that's about eight miles south of Indiahoma and 20 miles west of I-44.

Around eight o'clock Sunday night firefighters did have the fire under control and at the time it was not threatening any structures.

They said wind gusts caused the fire to expand quickly.

The cause has not officially been determined, but at the time of the fire firefighters say two men were welding near by.
