UPDATE: Investigators determine cause of house fire in Amarillo

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - Investigators say they know the cause of an Amarillo fire.

More than 20 firefighters and three investigators were called to the scene of a large structure fire in Amarillo Sunday evening.

The Amarillo Fire Department was called to a home at 2722 Highland shortly after six o'clock.

The blaze was so fierce it initially pushed firefighters back.

Crews had the fire under control within the hour, but the house still suffered a lot of damage.

The damage to the home is estimated at 125,000 dollars.

Fire officials say the fire was caused by an electrical short in a window unit air conditioner.
