UPDATE 2:30 p.m.

Amarillo, TX - Xcel Energy tells us about 600 customers across the Texas panhandle are still without power, most of whom are in Amarillo.

Crews continue their repair efforts, and they expect to have power restored to all residents by 5:00 this afternoon.

Thousands of area residents are still without power this morning.

At last check, Xcel energy says there were fewer than 4,000 customers in Amarillo affected.

Power outages remain on 27th street and Osage, where crews are on scene working to get everything back up and running.

I-40 and Ross on the south side is still without power as well.

Additional resources from several area cities are being brought in this morning to help with the effort.

Xcel hopes to have most power restored by this afternoon.
