Jackson Co. Jailer Charged for Sex with Inmate

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON CO., Okla_ A Jackson County jailer said she "knew better" but did it for the attention. Now, Tonya Brand is in trouble.

She's free on bail Wednesday but authorities say Brand faces charges of second degree rape and felony charges of committing sexual acts with an inmate.

An affidavit shows a jail administrator checked out the Facebook of one of the inmates last month and noticed a picture that matched an area inside the jail. Then, he saw that same inmate had made more than 200 calls to one number. The number belonged to Brand. Authorities say they had sexual relations in the janitor's closet, which was the only place in jail with no cameras.

Brand faces up to 35 years in prison. She's expected to be back in court again June 24th.
